DRFC Saunders disappointed with draw

DRFC Saunders disappointed with draw

Doncaster Rovers boss Dean Saunders was disappointed to see his side pick up just a point against promotion chasing Cardiff City on Saturday.

Saunders felt it was a tremendous performance by his Rovers side that stay in the relegation zone, despite making it eleven points from a possible fifteen in their last five home games.

Speaking on Radio Sheffield, Saunders said, "It was a tremendous performance, we made so many chances, and we had enough to win three games.

"I thought we totally battered them from start to finish and how we have not come away with the three points is beyond me"

"I thought the players were brilliant, everyone worked and worked and worked.

"Most people think it is a good result against Cardiff but I expected us to win."

Rovers had by far the better of the game and created the best chances with El Hadji Diouf seeing his effort tipped onto a post by David Marshall in the Cardiff City goal.

James O`Connor also went close when he headed over from close range and it could have quite easily have been a penalty with the Cardiff defender pushing him in the back as he went for the header.

Billy Sharp also had a call for a penalty turned down in the closing moments, when he went over the advancing Marshall who took none of the ball.

Just out of interest, How is David Button settling in and what are your thoughts on him so far?

He's doing really well. Kept two clean sheets in his two championship games. Had little to do against Cardiff but he made a great save against Barnsley last time out in the league.
