DRFC Saunders - Button is doing well for us

Doncaster Rovers boss Dean Saunders has been delighted with the contribution made by young goalkeeper David Button since his arrival from Tottenham Hotspur at the start of the month.

The 22 year old joined on a one-month loan deal following injuries to Neil Sullivan and Carl Ikeme and Button has made a good impression in his two starts in the championship.

Button has kept two clean sheets in the league, helping Rovers to four points from a possible six and Saunders says he`s a good young keeper with a good attitude.

'I thought our goalkeeper did well, he punched what he had to and his handling was good.

'He's a good young keeper and he's doing well for us. He's a nice lad with a good attitude too.

'He's here for a month and it's free - we're not paying anything for him, which is thanks to Harry Redknapp (Tottenham manager) and Daniel Levy (Tottenham chairman), so we can't complain.'

Button has made just one appearance for Tottenham since coming through the clubs academy system, which was ironically against Doncaster Rovers in the Carling Cup in 2009 as a late substitute.

He has so far represented England at four levels from under 16 to under 20.

He started the season on loan at League One side Leyton Orient where he made two appearances and Doncaster are his tenth loan club.

Rovers might look to extend his loan deal with Neil Sullivan expected to be out for around another six weeks after undergoing surgery on his broken thumb and Carl Ikeme returning to his parent club Wolverhampton Wanderers.
