DRFC Saunders - It was a good battling performance

Doncaster Rovers boss Dean Saunders thought it was a good battling performance after claiming a point in the 0-0 draw at Hull City.

The club were starting life after the departure of the clubs leading goalscorer Billy Sharp earlier in the week and Saunders felt the players put the disappointment of losing Sharp behind them with a determined performance.

Saunders speaking on the official website said, "I thought it was a good battling performance considering the problems we have had.

"They`ve had their chances and we have probably rode our luck at times.

"I thought they all stuck together as a group, obviously after losing Billy there was a lot of negativity around the place but it was a great result really."


Rovers had to withstand a large amount of pressure from Hull with on loan goalkeeper David Button making a number of saves and a number of last ditch blocks from the Rovers defence keeping the scores level.
point moved Rovers up to 22nd in the championship after Nottingham Forest were beaten at home by Burnley.

Millwall also lost at home to Watford, allowing Rovers to close the gap to five points to the lions who are currently one place outside the relegation places.

Rovers can now get ready for Saturday`s home clash with promotion chasing Reading hoping to continue closing the gap on the sides above them.

Great performance from Donny, they "Buttoned" Hull up for a good point and with a bit of luck we would have "Dioufed" them for three.

This what Rovers need to do. Points away from home, with the odd win and keep picking up points at home.
