DRFC Saunders disappointed not to win

Doncaster Rovers boss Dean Saunders said he was disappointed to have not come away with the three points in the 1-1 draw with Reading on Tuesday night.

Rovers stretched their unbeaten run to five games and they also became the first team to stop Reading winning in nine games as the sides battled to a draw.

Kyle Bennett gave Rovers a first half lead before Alex Pearce netted early in the second half for Reading to draw the sides level.

Saunders felt it was a good game but admitted to being a little disappointed in not being able to hang onto the three points.

Speaking on Radio Sheffield, Saunders said, "I was a bit disappointed; I thought we could have won the game.

"On reflection, we matched them all over the pitch and football wise; I thought it was a good game.

Saunders was full of praise for his players who have bounced back brilliantly from the defeat at Leeds and dropping crucial points the following week against Peterborough, both in added time.

The draw moved Rovers back to within three points of safety and Saunders says they now have two games coming up that they feel they can win . "I think the players are doing brilliant. They are fighting. We had a blow at Leeds and a blow against Peterborough when we have thrown points away and they have just come back as if nothing has happened.

"We have two games in front of us now that we can win and we are going to be hard to play against on Saturday,"
added Saunders.

Rovers now have two game at home in four days, starting with Derby County on Saturday and then a crucial game with Millwall on Tuesday who are also still in a relegation fight.

A good point against Reading when you think about it. Got to take six points from the next two games now though.

I think it shows you the progress we have made when we are disappointed not to beat a team that have won their last eight. Reading look a good side though and Ian Harte gave us no end of problems from set pieces.
