DRFC Doncaster v Birmingham Head to Head

Vital Doncaster looks at the head-to-head record between Doncaster Rovers and Birmingham City at Doncaster over the years.

The two clubs have only ever met eight times at Doncaster with Doncaster winning three, Birmingham four and one draw.

The first ever meeting came during the 1902/03 season at their first permanent ground behind the deaf and dumb school in Doncaster, whilst Birmingham were still playing under their former name Small Heath.

Doncaster won the Second Division clash 1-0 in December. When the two sides met in the return game just four months later, Rovers were on the wrong end of their heaviest ever defeat when they lost 12-0.

It was 45 years before the two clubs clashed again, once again in a Second Division clash at Belle Vue. This time they shared the points in a 0-0 draw in the 1947/48 season.

They then met five seasons in a row between 1950/51 and 1954/55.

Rovers were twice on the end of heavy defeats, beaten 5-0 (51/52) and 5-1 (54/55). Sandwiched in between these two games, Rovers won 1-0 (52/53) and 3-1 (53/54).

It was 55 years before they met again. By which time Doncaster had moved to the Keepmoat Stadium.

The game came was in front of the live TV cameras during the 2008/09 season. Birmingham won 2-0 thanks to two first half goals from Cameron Jerome and Hameur Bouazza.
