DRFC Ilunga wanting to remain with Rovers

Experienced defender Herita Ilunga is keen to extend his stay at Doncaster Rover when he comes to the end of his short-term deal.

Ilunga signed for the club on a one-month deal in March, which is due to run out after the Burnley game on Easter Monday.

The 30 year old is hoping to extend his stay after being released by former club West Ham United in January.

Speaking in the Doncaster Star, Ilunga said, "I would like to stay until the end of the season but I am not in control of the situation," Ilunga told The Star. "I`m just taking it game by game.

"I signed for one month and hopefully I will get it extended. I am here to do well and to help the team. I am happy as long as I am playing games.

"I like the staff, the players and the fans here and was more than happy to come back to the club.

"It is just a shame our position is very bad."

Ilunga spent the vast majority of the first half of the season on loan at the Keepmoat from West Ham and he made 15 appearances before returning to the hammers following the Barnsley game in January.

The Congolese international has started the last three games for Rovers following the injury to left back Tommy Spurr, which looks to have ruled him out for the remainder of the season.

With Spurr out for the rest of the season we either keep Ilunga or give Dumbuya a chance. I cannot understand Saunders for not giving Dumbuya a chance.

I have to agree, give Dumbuya a chance

D.S said he had to mature and learn discipline, he can`t do that unless he plays.
