DRFC Saunders expecting Diouf to leave

Doncaster Rovers boss Dean Saunders expects El Hadji Diouf to start next season at another club.

Diouf signed an eighteen-month contract with Rovers in January after coming to the end of his initial short-term deal after joining the club in October.

A clause in the strikers contract means he is free to leave the club following their relegation to League One and he is already being strongly linked with a move to Yorkshire neighbours Leeds United.

Saunders is expecting Diouf to depart this summer and although admitting that the controversial striker was hard to manage he made a big contribution during his time at the Keepmoat. 'He scored six goals, got 12 assists and I think probably six of those were on Billy's head in the six-yard box.

"I only had him for five months and the clauses in his contract are for the Championship, so I think he'll probably be going to another club, whether it's Leeds or somewhere else,"
commented Saunders.

The former twice-African footballer of the year made 23 appearances for Rovers scoring six goals last season.

I still can't see him going to Leeds.

I certainly can't see him staying with Rovers. I can't see why he signed an eighteen month deal. Rovers should at least get some money for him.
