DRFC Former loan striker released by Cardiff

Former Doncaster Rovers loan striker Jon Parkin has been released by Cardiff City after having his contract terminated by mutual consent.

Parkin was previous manager Sean O`Driscoll last loan signing before his departure from the club in September of last season.

The striker made five appearances without scoring for Rovers during his month with the club.

Rovers boss Dean Saunders was keen to extend the loan until January, something that was turned down by Cardiff.

The 30-year-old striker also spent time on loan with Huddersfield Town and Scunthorpe United last season.

He spent the last three months of the season with Scunthorpe where he scored 6 goals in 14 appearances.
