DRFC Saunders left in limbo

Doncaster Rovers boss Dean Saunders admits he could lose some of his out of contract players who he would like to offer new deals to stay at the Keepmoat.

The Rovers boss needs to reduce his wage bill considerably following the clubs relegation to League One at the end of last season.

Saunders has already lost one of his out of contract players in defender Sam Hird to Chesterfield and he risks losing more whilst he clears out some of the higher earners at the club who are contracted into next season.

Speaking in the Doncaster Free Press, Saunders said, "I`ve not ruled out offering contracts to any of the lads who were on the released list.

"But at the moment I`m in a position where I just need to wait and see what happens.

"I`ve said to a few of them if I had to offer you a contract now I`m not in a position to offer you much."

Saunders has just thirteen senior professionals still in contract at the Keepmoat, whilst fourteen players were on the released list after coming to the end of their current Rovers contracts.

I think everything will go into overdrive when the players transfer window reopens.

Be interesting to hear what is said at the Rovers forum next week. Hopefully Watson and Bramall will come back on board. John Ryan needs help, he can't do it all on his own.
