DRFC Weekend date for York clash

Doncaster Rovers have announced that they will play their Capital One League Cup first round tie against York City at the Keepmoat on Saturday August 11th.

The Football League gave clubs the option of playing the ties on the Saturday rather than the midweek with the cup starting a week earlier that the Football League season this season.

Rovers have decided to play the Yorkshire derby on the Saturday, which will maximise the opportunity of a bigger crowd.

The game will kick off at 3pm and will be the first meeting between the two sides since April 2004 when already promoted Rovers won 3-1 at Belle Vue to all but condemn York to non-league football.

York returned to the Football League in May with a 2-1 play-off final win over Luton Town at Wembley.
