DRFC Gillett moving on

Doncaster Rovers midfielder Simon Gillett has indicated that he will not be with the club much longer after wishing the squad well after they returned to training today without him.

The Rovers squad returned to training today ahead of the new season and Gillett took to his twitter page @S_Gilly18 to wish them all the best when he posted: 'Good luck to all the Donny Boys back in training 2day & 4 the season - Pastures new for me, wish everyone @ #drfc the best #itsbeenapleasure.`

Gillett is out of contract at the Keepmoat after coming to the end of his two-year contract.

The midfielder has made 81 appearances for Rovers in two spells with the club having also had a brief loan spell in the 2009/10 season.

The 26 year old made 48 appearances for Rovers last season and he was amongst the award winners at the end of last season when The Star and Green Un named him their player of the season.

Rovers have already seen a number of players who are ut of contract move on this summer with Sam Hird, James Hayter, Oscar Radford and Adam Lockwood having already found new clubs.

Good luck Simon, whoever gets you will have a willing workhorse.

Sad to see him leaving. I will be surprised if he doesn't return to the championship

He will be leaving along with most of those still in contract. I can see the starting eleven on the opening day having about 9 debutants
