Walsall boss Dean Smith has refused to rule out a move for former Doncaster Rovers defender James Chambers.
Rovers released chambers at the end of last season after four years at the Keepmoat.
Walsall have recently appointed former Doncaster Rovers assistant manager Richard O`Kelly as assistant manager to Smith. O`Kelly had a short spell in charge of Hereford at the end of last season where he had Chambers on loan.
The Walsall boss says he is certainly interested in Chambers joining the Saddlers. Speaking in the midlands paper, Express and Star , Smith said, "James (Chambers) had injury problems last season but is a fantastic footballer and I`d certainly have an interest in James if he was interested in Walsall as well. But there are more pressing priorities at the minute."
Chambers has been plagued by injuries at Rovers in recent seasons and he failed to make an appearance last season for the club before being loaned out to Hereford at the end of March, where he went on to make seven appearances.
In the previous season, he made just nine appearances for Rovers after being an almost ever present in his first two seasons at the club.
Chambers is the latest player to be released by Rovers to be linked with a new club.
Sam Hird, Adam Lockwood, James Hayter and Oscar Radford have already found new clubs and Giles Barnes is currently having a trial with Greek side PAOK.
