DRFC Dumbuya having Portsmouth trial

Former Doncaster Rovers defender Mustapha Dumbuya is having a trial with Portsmouth.

Dumbuya was one of a number of players released by Doncaster Rovers boss Dean Saunders at the end of last season and it has been reported in the Portsmouth News that he has spent the first day of pre-season training with the Fratton Park club.

The 24 year old failed to break into the plans of Saunders at the Keepmoat last season after the new manager`s arrival in September.

He made just eleven appearances for Rovers last season and just four following the arrival of Saunders.

His lack of opportunities at the Keepmoat saw him loaned to Crystal Palace in January where he made three appearances.

Dumbuya joined up with the Sierra Leone national squad recently for the first time. He was an unused substitute in the African cup of nations qualifying win over Sao Tome Principe.

I would have liked to have seen him stay with Rovers. He really should have played more last season.
