Trial for son of Newcastle and Liverpool legend

Doncaster Rovers are giving a trial to Greg McDermott, the son of former Liverpool and Newcastle United player Terry.

The 20 year old has been training with the squad at Cantley Park since they returned for pre-season training last week.

McDermott came through the Academy ranks at Newcastle United and he was a regular in their reserve side last season earning some rave reviews.

His performances earned him a call up to the senior squad and he travelled with the side to a number of Premier League games but failed to make the bench.

McDermott is regarded as a box-to-box midfielder but he has also looked accomplished at centre back for Newcastle`s second string when required.

He played 12 times for the reserves last season, chipping in with two goals.

Rovers start their pre-season campaign today at Cleethorpes with McDermott expected to feature.
