Doncaster Rovers made it two wins from two in pre-season, with a 3-2 win at Grimsby Town.

Rovers boss Dean Saunders was boosted by the return of James O`Connor, George Friend, Tommy Spurr and James Coppinger to the starting line up having all missed the weekend win over Cleethorpes Town.

Summer signings David Syers and David Cotterill scored their first goals for the club and Chris Brown made it two goals in two games as Rovers raced into a first half lead. Syers gave Rovers the lead before penalties by Brown and Cotterill put Rovers 3-0 up inside 40 minutes.

Two goals from Grimsby substitute Dayle Southall half way through the second half brought the home side back into the game but Rovers held on for the win.

I still expect the side on the opening day to be a shadow of the one playing in pre-season.

Sadly I agree. Only a month away and there is so much to be done on the playing side. At this rate I will be happy to stay up!
