DRFC Rovers and Wednesday stalemate

Doncaster Rovers and Sheffield Wednesday battled out a 0-0 draw at the Keepmoat in Rovers first home game of pre-season.

The two clubs swapped divisions at the end of last season and it was Rovers south Yorkshire neighbours who looked more likely to score in the first half.

Chris Lines, Marlon Harewood and Reda Johnson all having good chances for Wednesday.

David Syers went closest for Rovers as his fierce shot from the edge of the area had Chris Kirkland at full stretch.

In the second half, Chris Brown and Paul Keegan both had long-range efforts go wide for Rovers in a more even contest.

The visitors best opportunity came when Nejc Pecknik, Chris Lines and Chris O`Grady all had efforts blocked in one attack.

A good work out for Rovers, with Rovers boss Dean Saunders giving most first choice players more playing time.

Next up for Rovers is another local clash at the Keepmoat against Hull City on Tuesday night.

Doncaster:
G Woods, Quinn, Husband, Spurr, Wakefield, Coppinger, Keegan (M Woods 66), Syers (Stock 66), Cotterill (Blake 66), Brown (Ball 90), Bennett

Substitutes not used:
Maxted, Mullen, McCormick
