DRFC Doncaster v York head-to-head

Vital Doncaster Rovers looks at the head-to-head record between Doncaster and York City over the years.

The two clubs have met on 38 previous occasions at Doncaster with Doncaster winning 18, York 10 and 10 have been drawn.

The first ever meeting between the two clubs came during the 1929/30 season when York left Belle Vue with a 3-0 win in a Third Division North game.

This is the first time the two sides have met since the 2003/04 season, in Rovers penultimate home game of the season. Rovers ran out 3-1 winners thanks to two goals from Chris Brown and one from Greg Blundell as Rovers headed for the title and York into the conference.

They have met on three previous occasions in the League Cup with Rovers still looking for their first success. The previous three times they met it was over two legs with York running out aggregate winners on every occasion.

York won 3-0 on aggregate in the 1963/64 season when after drawing 0-0 at Belle Vue they won their home leg 3-0.

In the 1984/85 season, Rovers lost 3-2 at home before suffering a heavy 5-0 defeat in the second leg at Bootham Crescent.

The met again in the 1996/97 season, when after a 1-1 draw at Belle Vue, York progressed 3-1 on aggregate after a 2-0 win at home.
