DRFC Walsall v Doncaster Rovers head to head

Vital Doncaster Rovers looks at the head-to-head record between Walsall and Doncaster Rovers in the midlands over the years.

Rovers travel to Walsall for their opening League One game of the season on Saturday and they will be hoping to improve on a fairly dismal record.

The two sides have met on 27 occasions with Walsall winning 18, Rovers 6 and 3 have been drawn.

The first ever meeting came during the 1923/24 season when Walsall won 5-2 in a Third Division North clash.

Rovers lost on their first seven visits to The Fellows before returning to Yorkshire with a 2-0 win during the 1934/35 season.

Walsall moved to the newly built Bescot Stadium in 1990 and Rovers have fared slightly better. Rovers have won two, drawn two and lost four since the move.

Rovers last win came during the 1993/94 season when they won 2-1.

The last time the two sides met was on New Year`s Day in 2008. 6,266 fans turned up for the game between two sides in the League One play off places.

Jason Price put Rovers ahead on the stroke of half time only for Scott Dann to earn Walsall a point with an equaliser fifteen minutes from time.
