DRFC Doncaster Rovers v Bury Head to Head

Doncaster Rovers and Bury meet at the Keepmoat Stadium on Tuesday for the first time and Vital Doncaster Rovers looks back at the history of the two meeting at Belle Vue.

They have met on 29 previous occasions, with Rovers winning 12, Bury 10 and 7 have been drawn.

The first ever encounter came during the 1935/36 season when Rovers won 1-0 in a Second Division clash.

When they last met in the 2003/04 season, Rovers won 3-1 thanks to two goals from Greg Blundell and one from Ade Akinfenwa.

That win for Rovers was their first at home against Bury in six encounters having lost the previous five, dating back to 1992/93 season.

The two sides met in twice in the space of a week at Belle Vue in the 1972/73 season with Rovers winning 3-1 in a FA Cup first round clash before going one better with a 4-1 win a week later in a Fourth Division clash.

Unbelievably, when they met at Gigg Lane four months later, Bury won 5-0.

We've got the makings of a great defense built round our our "twin towers" but the best form of defense is what we did against Walsall on Saturday, Attack!!
