DRFC Husband rewarded with new deal

Young Doncaster Rovers defender James Husband has signed a new contract with the club.

The 18 year old has signed a new three year deal having come through the clubs youth system in the last two years, after being released by Leeds United.

Husband signed his first professional contract with Rovers last November, when he signed a two and a half year deal with the club. His form at the end of last season, as well as his form in pre-season has seen the club reward him with a new deal.

He made his debut as an early second half substitute in the 0-0 draw at Middlesbrough in April before making his first start for the club in the following game at Coventry City. He helped the side to a 2-0 win at the Ricoh Arena, the first time the club had kept back-to-back clean sheets all season.

Husband made his home debut in the final game of the season, when Rovers were beaten 3-2 by Ipswich Town.

The defender started Rovers opening game of this season when they drew 1-1 with York City in the League Cup and he has been an unused substitute in the clubs opening two League One fixtures.

The new contract caps a great 2012 for the youngster, having also helped the youth side win the Youth Alliance Cup with a 4-0 win at Exeter City at the start of May.
