DRFC Hartlepool v Rovers Head To Head

Vital Doncaster looks at the head-to-head record between Hartlepool United and Doncaster Rovers at Victoria Park over the years.

Saturday will be the 51st meeting between the two with Hartlepool having won 25, Doncaster 11 and 14 draws in the previous 50.

The first ever meeting was a Third Division North clash in the 1923/24 season when they shared the points in a 1-1 draw.

The first two meetings ended in draws with a 2-2 scoreline the following season.

Hartlepool enjoyed their first win in the 1925/26 season, winning 2-1.

Rovers had to wait until their eighth visit to the North East for their first win when they won 2-1 in the 1930/31 season.

The last time the two sides met was in the 2007/08 season when Hartlepool won 2-1 in Rovers first away game of the season.

James Hayter looked to have earned Rovers a point with less than twenty minutes remaining but a late penalty for Richie Barker earned the home side all three points.

Rovers last win there came the previous season when two goals from Paul Heffernan in two minutes and one from Jason Price secured their place in the next round of the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy.

Hartlepool enjoyed their biggest win in the 1931/32 season when they won 5-0.

Rovers have twice scored six goals at Victoria Park. They won 6-2 in the 1959/60 season and won 6-0 in the 1989/90 season. Rovers had won just one of their opening nine games in the 89/90 season but a hat trick from Lee Turnbull inspired Rovers to a 6-0 win.
