DRFC Saunders - Jones the example of what I want

Doncaster Rovers boss Dean Saunders was full of praise for defender Rob Jones after the sides 2-1 win over Brentford.

Jones suffered a dislocated and broken thumb in the game and Saunders says Jones is the example of what he wants at the club.

Speaking on Radio Sheffield, Saunders said, "Once we scored the second goal, Rob Jones headed everything out of our box and last year that wouldn`t have happened, there would have been a flick on and 2-2.

"He has dislocated and broken his thumb but he played on. He is the example of what I want at the club.

"He plays with his heart; He plays for the club, the supporters, playing for me and his wife and children and it means everything to him and you cannot coach that into players. You either have fire in your belly or you haven`t."

Jones signed for the club in the summer from Sheffield Wednesday.

The 32-year-old defender has quickly endeared himself to the clubs fans with his combative defensive displays and he has also chipped in with crucial goals against Hull City in the League Cup and a last minute equaliser at Hartlepool United last weekend.

He has missed just two games this season against Norwich City in the League Cup and he recently sat out the game against Shrewsbury Town after picking up five yellow cards this season.

Lets hope he is ok for Tuesday. I am sure with the defensive shortage he will want to play.
