DRFC Ruthless Performance Pleases Saunders

Doncaster Rovers boss Dean Saunders was pleased with what he called a ruthless performance in the win at Notts County on Saturday.

Rovers made it three wins a week with a 2-0 win to leapfrog their opposition and into fifth place in League One.

Speaking on Radio Sheffield, Saunders said, "I just thought we were ruthless today. A really professional team performance and the players worked hard.

"'I don't think Notts County really had a shot for Gary Woods to save and they're a good team.

"We were quite comfortable all afternoon and we scored two great goals. Kyle Bennett missed an open goal from a couple of yards so we could have had a few more."

Rovers goals came in the space of two minutes. Paul Keegan headed his first goal of the season after a pinpoint cross from David Syers and a good move was finished by Chris Brown, who marked his 50th appearance for the club with his 18th goal.

The win for Rovers leaves them just four points behind leaders Tranmere Rovers with a game in hand after a good run of results in October.

Saunders small squad have won four, drawn one and lost one during the month as well as progress in the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy.

Rovers now have a week of from the league as they start a run of three home games in a row with a FA Cup clash with non-league Bradford Park Avenue next Saturday.

Nine points from three difficult looking games in the last week. Amzing when you also consider the size of the squad.

We are certainly building around the defence this season. I was worried when we lost Jamie McComber long-term but Rob Jones is immense. I hope we don't lose him to injury.
