Vital Doncaster looks at the head-to-head record between Doncaster Rovers and Crewe Alexandra over the years.
The two sides have met on 45 previous occasions at Doncaster with the home side winning 23, Crewe 11 and 11 have been drawn.
The first ever meeting came in the 1923/24 season when Doncaster won a Third Division (North) clash 4-1.
Crewe had to wait until their fourth visit to Doncaster before they left with the points when they won 2-0 in the 1926/27 season.
Doncaster enjoyed their biggest win during the 1960/61 season when they won 6-0.
Crewe enjoyed their biggest win during the 1991/92 season when they won a League cup clash 4-2, winning 9-4 on aggregate.
Doncaster are unbeaten in the last five meetings and have won both games at the Keepmoat.
The first meeting at the Keepmoat happened in just the second month of the move and it must rank as one of the best games seen at the new stadium.
The two clubs were battling it out for a place in the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy Final in Cardiff. After drawing the first leg at Crewe 3-3, the return game at Doncaster had everything.
The night started with a number of Rovers players and manager Sean O`Driscoll laid low with a virus and the night looked to be going from bad to worse when they went 2-0 down after just 36 minutes.
Paul Heffernan pulled a goal back for Doncaster just past the hour.
With just seven minutes remaining, Doncaster were awarded a penalty. Heffernan despatched the penalty, only for referee Trevor Kettle to order the kick to be retaken.
Heffernan kept his cool to dispatch the penalty and tie the game at 5-5 on aggregate.
With the clock running down, Jason Price found himself in the right place at the right time to prod home and send Doncaster to their first ever domestic final, which they went on to win.
They met in League One the following season and another goal from Heffernan and an own goal by Dan Woodards earned Doncaster a 2-0 win.
