DRFC Rovers sign Fowler

Doncaster Rovers have made their first new signing of 2013 after announcing the signing of Lee Fowler from Fleetwood Town.

The 29 year old has signed for Rovers for an undisclosed fee until the end of the season.

Fowler started his career with Coventry City in the second tier where he made his debut as an 18 year old.

After four years at Coventry, he joined Huddersfield Town in the Fourth Division. He spent two seasons at Huddersfield; he dropped into non-league football, joining Scarborough.

The midfielder drifted around non-league football having spells at Burton Albion, Newport County, Forest Green Rovers, Kettering, Wrexham and Fleetwood.

He played for Rovers boss Dean Saunders during his spell at Wrexham, he was a regular in the side, and he handed in a transfer request at the Racecourse Ground not long after Saunders had left.

Fowler left Wrexham to join Fleetwood in January 2012 and he made 19 appearances for them last season as they stormed to the Blue Square Premier Division title.

He has made 12 appearances for Fleetwood this season but he hasn`t featured since their home game with Rotherham United on November 6th.

The combative midfielder, who has represented Wales at under 21 level with go straight into the Rovers squad for their game with Colchester United on Saturday.

I used to rate him at Huddersfield. I was surprised to see him drop out of the league for so long.
