DRFC Flynn - Defeat was a one off

DRFC Flynn - Defeat was a one off

Doncaster Rovers boss Brian Flynn says he thinks the defeat at Bury on Saturday was a one off and he expects a positive reaction from the players.

Flynn tasted defeat for the first time in his third game in charge since taking over from Dean Saunders, something he admits he doesn`t like.

Speaking on BBC Radio Sheffield, Flynn said, 'I don't like the taste of defeat and I know it won't happen many times between now and the end of the season that is for certain.

'I've had a good start and now we are looking at the other side of it. I know for a fact looking at the second half there will be a positive reaction to the events of the first half. "

The defeat also brought to an end a run of twelve games without defeat on the road, a record going back to September 1st when they lost at Yeovil Town.

Rovers were undone by two set pieces in the first half by Bury, who were record their first win in thirteen games.

Andy Bishop and Nicky Ajose both getting their heads to the ball first to score twice in the space of ten minutes.

Rovers battled in vain in the second half but wayward finishing proved crucial as only David Cotterill seriously threatened the Bury goal with Trevor Carson tipping over his effort and Flynn says the side need to be more clinical in the final third. 'We're going to have to finish better between now and the end of the season.

'We're going to have to be more clinical, more cool, the timing needs to be better and we will be.

"I think today was just a one off,"
added Flynn.

The defeat for Rovers did little damage in the League One table with Tranmere Rovers, who started the day level on points with Rovers at the top, also losing to Carlisle United at home 1-0.

Bournemouth were the only winners over the weekend of the sides that started in the top six in the division as they won 3-0 at faltering MK Dons.

The win for Bournemouth moves them into third place in the division, just four points behind Tranmere and Rovers.

Rovers will now dust themselves down and prepare for a home game with improving Walsall next Saturday Walsall made it seven wins from their last nine games with a 3-1 home win over Oldham Athletic on Saturday with former Rovers midfielder James Baxendale again on target for the Saddlers.
