'If It's Football, It's Vital'

DRFC View from the opposition

Bury manager Kevin Blackwell thought the win over Doncaster Rovers has been coming for a while, as they have not had the results their performances have deserved.

Bury brought to an end a run of twelve games without a win with a 2-0 win at Gigg Lane, thanks to two first half goals and Blackwell thought it was a terrific display. 'I don't think anyone who's seen us play recently would begrudge us that. We've been playing well for a long, long time.

'It was a terrific 11-man display against a team that's second and were on a fantastic run. We had a few other chances to win it as well.

'The first goal was pure invention. The kids were bright, sharp, quick - and we felt that would be the undoing of Donny.

'It was pointless fighting them - we know how big and strong they are - and when we moved it quickly we caused them some real problems,"
Blackwell said after the game.

Andy Bishop and Nicky Ajose were the Bury heroes with headed goals. Bishop gave Bury the lead on 25 minutes when he got up well to head past Woods and the Rovers keeper was beat again on 36 minutes when Ajose rose above the defence at the far post to head in.

It was certainly an uncharacteristic display from a Rovers defence that had conceded just nine goals away from home his season going into the game.

It also brought to an end a club record run of twelve away games in a season without defeat.
