DRFC Flynn credits Dean Saunders after promotion

Doncaster Rovers boss Brian Flynn paid credit to former boss Dean Saunders after the club clinched the League One title on the final day of the season.

After relegation from the championship last season, Saunders rebuilt the squad over the summer with Flynn then scouting talent for the club.

Saunders left the Keepmoat in January when the opportunity to manage championship club Wolverhampton Wanderers was offered to him and Flynn gave plenty of credit to the former boss and his staff after the game.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Flynn said, "All credit to Dean Saunders, Brian Carey and his staff who built a really good squad. Between us we built a really good squad and it showed today."

Saunders left in January with the club level on points with Tranmere Rovers at the top of League One.

Flynn was initially put in temporary charge but after winning in his first game in charge at Stevenage, Flynn was given the job until the end of the season.

In a strange twist of fate, Saunders looks like he could be passing Rovers as Wolves look set to be relegated to League One following their latest defeat at home to Burnley on Saturday.

Wolves now need to win their last game of the season at Brighton and hope that Peterborough are beaten at Crystal Palace, whilst Barnsley could also have a say as a point for them at Huddersfield would put them clear of Wolves.
