DRFC Hird transfer-listed by Spireites

DRFC Hird transfer-listed by Spireites

Former Doncaster Rovers defender Sam Hird is looking for a new club after being placed on the transfer list at Chesterfield.

Hird only signed for Chesterfield last summer on a two-year deal after coming to the end of his current deal at the Keepmoat.

The 25-year-old had spent just over five years with Doncaster, making over 150 appearances and he was a key player in the side that won the League One Play-off final against Leeds United in 2008.

Hird joined former Rovers player John Sheridan at Chesterfield last summer and he was a regular in the side this season until recently.

The versatile player captained the side at the start of the season and he made 44 appearances this season for the spireites but he has dropped down the pecking order since the arrival of new manager Paul Cook.
