DRFC Flynn decision moving closer

Doncaster Rovers are expected to announce their decision on the future of Brian Flynn on Friday.

The caretaker manager led Rovers to the League One title last weekend after taking over from Dean Saunders in January.

Flynn was out of contract on Sunday and the club gave him a two-week extension on his current deal whilst the board discussed his future.

The Rovers board held a meeting on Tuesday to discuss the future of Flynn, as they start to prepare for life back in the championship after just one season in League One.

Flynn is keen to continue as manager in the championship having spent the vast majority of his management career in the bottom two levels of English football with Wrexham and Swansea City.

The 66-year-old, who has also taken charge of the Welsh national side at both full and under-21 level, says he would relish the chance to manage in the championship.

Flynn was working at Doncaster as a scout to Dean Saunders prior to taking over in January and it is believed that the club will be keen to keep him at the club in some capacity if he is not to be offered the manager`s job.

I think Brian has done a brilliant job working with Rob on man management and team organization, a long discusion by the board with Brian on where he thinks he would fit in best, for the benifit of the club, would only be right. It may have been rough, but once again "if it aint broke, don`t fix it "
