DRFC Brown - I would love to stay

Doncaster Rovers striker Chris Brown says he would love to stay with the club as they prepare for life back in the championship.

Brown is out of contract at the Keepmoat this summer but the striker, who is in his second spell at the club, says he would love to remain with the club.

Speaking in the Doncaster Star , Brown said, "I would obviously love to stay. We`ve got a great bunch of lads at the club at the moment, and that includes the players and staff. The amount of respect the lads have for each other is just massive. Everyone worked their absolute socks off to achieve what we did, and it was brilliant to see the likes of Adam Smith (analyst), Ben Rome (physio) and Lee Butler (goalkeeping coach) enjoying the celebrations last week.'

"There`s a great togetherness and spirit among the group. That`s something we can hopefully build on and add to next season. There`s obviously a lot of lads out of contract in a few weeks time and until the club appoint a new manager you`re never quite sure what will happen, but hopefully whoever comes in will build on the foundations already in place."

The 28-year-old enjoyed an excellent season and he secured his second title with the club in his two stints with Rovers.

Brown, the son of former Rovers striker Alan Brown, first played for the club in the clubs first season back in the Football League in 2003/04.

He scored ten times in twenty-two appearances after joining on loan from Sunderland as the club won the Division Three title.

He returned to Sunderland where he won a championship winners medal twice in three seasons. He left Sunderland and joined Norwich City but after a short spell at Carrow Road, he signed for Preston North End.

Brown left Preston to return to Doncaster in the summer of 2011 after injuries restricted him to just 20 appearances in his final season at Deepdale.

In his first season at the Keepmoat, he again struggled with injuries and he made just twelve appearances, scoring three times as the club were relegated from the championship.

After a full pre-season, Brown hit the ground running this season and he scored in Rovers first three games of the season. He finished the season with eleven goals in forty-two appearances and he earned plaudits for his all-round hard work for the side.

An injury free Brown would certainly be an asset to Rovers in the championship next season.
