DRFC Rovers release five players
Doncaster Rovers have released five players after announcing their released and retained list.
Rovers have fourteen players out of contract this summer and they are to offer new deals to nine of them.
Goalkeeper Gary Woods is amongst those released. Woods was the regular number one for Rover last season and he made 49 appearances as they won the League One title. He made 82 appearances for the club during his time with Rovers.
Martin Woods is also being released. The midfielder is being released after six years with the club. He has struggled with injuries in the past four seasons and he made just 24 appearances in the past two seasons. Woods helped the club win promotion twice and also the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy, making 131 appearances during his time with the club.
Lee Fowler is being released after a short stay with the club. Fowler was former manager Dean Saunders final signing in January. The midfielder played just four times for Rovers and he spent time out on loan at Forest Green Rovers and Burton Albion.
Youngsters Jordan Ball and Paddy Mullen have also been released. The duo both came through the clubs youth set up but failed to gain a place in the side.
Ball made just two appearances and he scored within ten seconds of his debut against Chesterfield in the Johnstone`s Paint Trophy.
Mullen failed to make a first team appearance after signing his first professional deal with the club last summer.
Of those that Rovers are hoping to retain, Neil Sullivan is probably the biggest surprise. The 43-year-old finished the season in goal for Rovers but he looked to be on his way out of the Keepmoat when he was loaned out to AFC Wimbledon.
