DRFC Dickov excited about Rovers challenge

New Doncaster Rovers boss Paul Dickov says he is already looking forward to next season after being announced as the manager today.

Dickov, the long-time favourite for the vacant manager`s position vacated by Brian Flynn at the end of the season, was unveiled by the club at a press conference this afternoon.

The 40-year-old, who resigned as Oldham Athletic boss in February just days after knocking Liverpool out of the FA Cup, is excited about the new challenge.

"I am really excited. I am proud and honoured to be the Doncaster Rovers manager," Dickov told Radio Sheffield.

"I am really looking forward to next season. I have a lot of enthusiasm and a lot of positivity.

"There is the basis of a really strong hardworking squad here and hopefully with a couple quality additions we can have a successful season."

Whilst relatively inexperienced in management, Dickov brings a wealth of experience from his playing days to the Keepmoat.

The striker started out under George Graham at Arsenal and his playing career, which 1993, saw him also have spells with Luton Town, Brighton and Hove Albion, Manchester City, Leicester City, Blackburn Rovers, Crystal Palace, Blackpool, Derby County, Leeds United and Oldham Athletic as well as representing Scotland on ten occasions.
