DRFC Doncaster Rovers Summer Transfer Rumours

Doncaster Rovers have yet to announce a signing under new boss Paul Dickov this summer but they are being strongly linked with a number of players in the newspapers.

Dickov has admitted that he is working hard to sort out the contracts of the nine players out of contract at the club this summer first, but it hasn`t stop the speculation of players coming into the club.

Rovers have been linked with a dozen players recently, with Dickov being linked with three players from his old club Oldham Athletic as well as a couple of Manchester United youngsters.

Players

Richie Wellens - Leicester City

The 33-year-old needs no introduction to Rovers fans having spent two seasons at the Keepmoat previously. The midfielder helped Rovers win promotion to the championship in 2008 and establish themselves in the championship in their first season in the second tier in 2009.

Wellens left for Leicester in the summer of 2009 and he was a regular for the side in his first three seasons with the foxes.

A cruciate knee ligament injury towards the end of the 2011/12 season saw him miss the start of last season and he struggled to work his way back into the side. He made just four appearances for Leicester last season and he spent time on loan at Ipswich Town.

Nick Powell - Manchester United
The 19-year-old came through the Crewe Alexandra youth set up and he earned a fantastic reputation during his time at Gresty Road.

He made his debut at just 16 and he made 19 appearances in his first season in the side. The following season, he made 45 appearances scoring 16 goals and he helped Crewe win promotion to League One via the play-offs, including a superb strike in the final at Wembley.

He signed for Manchester United last summer on a four-year deal for a fee in the region of 4 million and it is believed that the Old Trafford club want him to gain more experience with a loan spell away from the club.

Luke McCullough - Manchester United
The 19-year-old was released at the end of last season by United. The centre back was loaned to League Two side Cheltenham Town in the second half of last season but he made just one substitute appearance in his six weeks at Whaddon Road before being recalled by his parent club.

His substitute appearance for Cheltenham is his only senior appearance to date.

Neil Kilkenny - Bristol City
The 27-year-old midfielder has been on the radar of Rovers once before during his time at Oldham Athletic before he joined Leeds United.

The Australian international was relegated to League One with Bristol City last season and he struggled for games under Derek McKinnes. The arrival of former Rovers boss Sean O`Driscoll at Ashton Gate saw him become a regular in the first team in the second half of last season.

Kilkenny has one-year remaining on his current deal at Ashton Gate and it is reported that Rovers face competition from South Yorkshire neighbours Sheffield Wednesday for his signature.

James Bailey - Derby County
Rams boss Nigel Clough has placed the 24-year-old midfielder on the transfer list and it is reported that both Rovers and Barnsley are interested in signing the player.

He spent last season on loan at League One side Coventry City where he made 37 appearances.

He is another product of the Crewe Alexandra academy and his first appearance for the club came against Rovers in 2007 when Rovers won 4-0 at Gresty Road.

He has already made over 150 senior appearances including 56 appearances in the championship for Derby.

Jean-Yves M`Voto - Oldham Athletic
The 24-year-old defender is out of contract at Oldham at the end of this month and he has turned down a new deal with the club.

The French centre back arrived in England in 2008 when he signed for Premier League side Sunderland from Paris St Germain.

He failed to make a senior appearance for the black cats before joining Oldham.

M`Voto made 123 appearances during his time with Oldham and last season he chipped in with 5 goals in his 49 appearances.

Lee Croft - Oldham Athletic
The 27-year-old midfielder was named the player of the season at Boundary Park. Croft is out of contract at the end of this month and he has also turned down an offer of a new deal at Oldham.

The experienced midfielder has made almost 300 appearances during his career, including a number of appearances in the Premier League with his first club Manchester City.

Jose Baxter - Oldham Athletic
The 21-year-old attacking midfielder joined Oldham last season after being released by Premier League side Everton.

He made his Premier League debut for Everton at just 16-year-old. He made 15 appearances for Everton in three seasons and he made 5 appearances in their Europa League campaign in the 2009/10 season.

After arriving on a short-term deal at Oldham following his release from Everton, his early season form saw him earn a two-and-a-half year deal.

He made 45 appearances for Oldham last season scoring 15 goals.

Gary Madine - Sheffield Wednesday
The 22-year-old striker is again being linked with a move to the Keepmoat having come close to joining the club in January.

The striker managed just 4 goals in 35 appearances last season, having netted 18 goals in each of his previous two seasons at Wednesday and his previous club Carlisle United.

Madine still has two years remaining on his current deal at Hillsborough.

Nicky Weaver - Sheffield Wednesday
The 34-year-old goalkeeper has made over 350 career appearances, making his name at Manchester City. He helped them win back-to-back promotions in his first two seasons at Maine Road.

He won three promotions during his time with Manchester City and he earned 10 caps for the England under-21 side.

Weaver has spent the past three seasons at Hillsborough and he helped them win promotion from League One in 2011.

He was linked with a move to Rovers last summer and it is believed he came close to joining the club. He is out of contract at Hillsborough and free to find a new club.

John Guidetti - Manchester City
Rovers are being linked with the 21-year-old striker who has already represented Sweden at full international level.

Guidetti joined the youth system at Manchester City in 2007 and he is yet to make a senior appearance for the club.

He spent the 2011/12 season on loan with Dutch giants Feyenoord and he netted 20 times in 23 appearances, including three hat tricks in four games as they finished runners-up to PSV Eindhoven in the Dutch top-flight.

Guidetti missed the whole of last season after suffering a knee injury during his time with Feyenoord.

Rovers are believed to be facing strong competition for the player from a number of clubs including Premier League sides.

James Collins - Swindon Town
The 22-year-old striker is currently with Swindon Town having signed for the Wiltshire club on a two-year deal last summer from Shrewsbury Town.

He failed to make the grade at Premier League side Aston Villa and he spent time on loan at both Darlington and Burton Albion before signing for Shrewsbury Town in January 2010.

In his first full season with Shrewsbury, he netted 16 times, helping the side win promotion from League Two.

He made the move to Swindon last summer and he netted 18 times in League One last season, helping the side reach the play-offs.
