DRFC Rovers start pre-season with a win
Doncaster Rovers started their pre-season campaign with a comprehensive 4-0 win at Frickley Athletic.
Rovers included a number of trialists as well as a number of last season`s squad who have yet to sign new deals with the club.
New Rovers boss Paul Dickov included three trialists in the first half and they eventually opened the scoring when Paul Keegan scored for Rovers.
Chris Brown doubled the lead when he headed home a Keegan corner and he scored his second of the night when he tapped in for a third just before half time after a good effort from James Husband.
Dickov included three more trialists in the second half as he started with a different eleven from the first half.
Paul Quinn was amongst the second half substitutes. Quinn, who is now out of contract, was reported to have turned down a new deal with the club but he was part of the side that started the second half.
The defender set up David Syers for the fourth goal of the evening. His cross was met by Syers, who scored at the second attempt.
It was to prove the only goal of the second half as Rovers started pre-season with a comfortable win.
Rovers will now prepare for their next pre-season game when they travel to Retford United on Saturday.
