DRFC Brown hat trick secures win for Rovers

DRFC Brown hat trick secures win for Rovers

Doncaster Rovers made it two wins from two in pre-season with a 4-2 win over local non-league side Retford United.

New boss Paul Dickov once again used two different sides for each half with trialists Sanchez Payne and Danny Philliskirk once again featuring, as did Jean Yves M`Voto and David Furman who are expected to complete their deals with the club in the next week. There were also three more unnamed trialists involved for Rovers.

Rovers went in at the break behind after Reece Thompson fired the home side ahead early in the game. Sanchez Payne had the best chance for Rovers in the first half but he saw his shot saved.

The second half side quickly got Rovers back in the game. Chris Brown levelled when he charged down the attempted clearance from the Retford goalkeeper.

Brown scored his second of the afternoon to put Rovers ahead before Lee Holmes equalised for Retford.

David Syers restored Rovers lead before Brown netted from the penalty spot to complete his hat trick and he has now scored five times in two games.

Rovers will now prepare for their next pre-season friendly at Rossington on Tuesday night.

First half:
Sullivan, Griffin, Wakefield, Jones, Spurr, Cotterill, Fernandez, Trialist, Payne, Philliskirk, Paynter

Second half:
Trialist, Quinn, Trialist, M`Voto, Husband, Finnegan, Furman, Harper, Meade, Syers, Brown

Rovers still need to bring a striker in. I hope Dickov isn't getting carried away with Brown.
