DRFC Dickov reasonably pleased with performance
Doncaster Rovers boss Paul Dickov says he was reasonably pleased with the performance after Rovers drew their latest pre-season game with Motherwell.
The Scottish Premier League side who finished last season as runners-up to Glasgow Celtic held Rovers to a 0-0 draw at the Keepmoat Stadium on a hot afternoon.
It was Paul Dickov` s first home game since taking over at the club in the summer and after giving most of his squad 45-minutes each in the previous three games this summer; he chose to give most of those that started on Saturday 60-minutes in this game.
David Cotterill and Chris Brown had Rovers best chances to win the game and after being quite critical of the previous two performances in pre-season, Dickov was a bit happier following this result.
"It was ok. It was a good test for us and it was a massive step up from the three games we have already had," Dickov told Radio Sheffield.
"Motherwell are a little bit ahead of us in terms of how long they have been back and it was big preparation for them today ahead of their Europa League qualifiers that are coming up.
"We knew it would be a good test and I am reasonably pleased. I still think we can be better on the ball. In the first half, we passed it ok but without any real purpose. I spoke to the lads at half time about a bit more intensity and tempo to the passing and we got that."
The game also saw a debut for Mark Duffy, who signed a three-year deal with the club prior to kick-off.
Duffy came off the bench for the final 30-minutes after completing the move shortly before kick-off.
Rovers are now heading to Portugal for a one-week training camp before they return for their final pre-season game of the summer at Bradford City on July 27th.
