DRFC Goalkeeper trial to continue in Portugal

Doncaster Rovers boss Paul Dickov will take trialist goalkeeper Marian Kello to Portugal with the squad as he continues his search for a new goalkeeper.

Rovers currently have no senior goalkeeper at the club with both Neil Sullivan and Gary Woods leaving this summer and Kello, who spent four years with Scottish Premier League side Heart of Midlothian arrived at the Keepmoat at the end of the week for a trial.

The 30-year-old Slovakian international played the 90-minutes in Rovers latest pre-season game and he kept a clean sheet in the 0-0 draw with Motherwell on Saturday.

"I thought he did well and he kept a clean sheet. He will be travelling to Portugal with us so that I can take another look at him," Dickov told Radio Sheffield.

"He has a good pedigree from his previous clubs, we want competition for places all over the pitch, and that includes the goalkeeping position."

Last summer he was linked with moves to both Aston Villa and Glasgow Celtic.

A move failed to materialise to either of these clubs and after trials with championship sides Ipswich Town and Wolves last summer, he eventually signed for Romanian top-flight side Astra Giurgiu.

Kello finished last season with Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he failed to make an appearance.

Rovers are now heading out to Portugal for a week long training camp.
