DRFC Wellens - New deal is a difficult situation

Doncaster Rovers midfielder Richie Wellens says he wants to remain with the club when his short-term deal ends next month but he is still unclear what the future holds.

The midfielder, who is in his second spell with the club, is on a short-term deal with the club until January and he says he wants to remain with Rovers but he may have to look elsewhere after the failed takeover of the club at the Keepmoat recently.

"I am enjoying it," Wellens told Radio Sheffield.

"I am happy to sit down and see where we can go. It is a difficult situation because I have actually agreed a two-year deal with the club but it was depending on the takeover of the club.

"I am not going to be bartering with the club and being greedy, I just want to be playing and I am enjoying being at the club.

"If the club can`t do anything, I will have to look at my options."

Wellens returned to the Keepmoat in pre-season after his release from Leicester City, signing an initial deal until the end of August.

With investment talks still at a stalemate having started in the summer, Wellens extended the deal until January after an impressive start to his second spell.

The 33-year-old has made 18 appearances so far this season for Rovers missing just two games.

He says he is enjoying it and he doesn't want to be greedy. I can't see where the problem is then Richie. Get a deal sorted.
