DRFC Host of players return to training

Doncaster Rovers boss Paul Dickov is set to be boosted by a number of players returning to training after injury.

Striker Chris Brown returned for Rovers on Saturday in the game at Bolton Wanderers after it was feared just two weeks ago that he could spend around a month on the sidelines with an ankle injury.

Harry Forrester is closing in on a return to full fitness, playing 25-minutes in the reserve team fixture at Leicester City last week after a frustrating start to his career at the Keepmoat.

The midfielder, who arrived from Brentford in the summer, has made just two appearances for Rovers since his arrival. He suffered an ankle injury in pre-season that ruled him out of the first four games of the season. He returned for the home games with Leeds and Bournemouth before suffering a thigh injury playing for the reserves that has ruled him out until now.

On loan Queens Park Rangers defender Yun Suk-Young returned to training with Rovers today after overcoming an ankle injury he sustained in training.

Young, who had made just two appearances for Rovers following his arrival from Loftus Road, returned to Rangers for treatment on the injury.

The South Korean international is expected to return to full training on Thursday and he could be available for the visit of Leeds United on Saturday.

James Husband, Jamie McCombe and Paul Keegan have also stepped up their rehabilitation from injury and have started light training.

Husband was ruled out for up to twelve weeks after picking up a shoulder injury against Burnley in early October and undergoing surgery.

The young left full back, who impressed in the first two months of the season, is back in light training.

McCombe hasn`t featured for Rovers this season after undergoing surgery in the summer on a long standing back injury.

The central defender played in the pre-season friendly at Rossington Main but he complained of pains in his back when scans revealed that he had a stress fracture in his back, something he had been suffering with since his days at Huddersfield Town.

McCombe missed almost three-months of last season after the injury flared up again but he battled on to the end of the season, forming a formidable partnership with Rob Jones at the heart of the Rovers defence.

Whilst he is set to return to light training, it is still a long road back for McCombe, who is not expected to return to first team action until the New Year.

Keegan is back in light training as he continues his rehabilitation from a hamstring injury picked up in training towards the end of November.

The midfielder was ruled out for between four and six weeks but his return to training is a welcome boost.

With the busy festive period almost upon us, even the return of one or two of these players would be a huge boost for Dickov, who continues to work with a small squad.

Will be great to have them all back for the start of next year. Rob Jones must surely be back in at least light training as well?

Brilliant news although it looks like a few of them are still three or four weeks away at least.
