DRFC McCullough impresses on International debut
Young Doncaster Rovers defender Luke McCullough made an instant impression on his senior debut for Northern Ireland.
The former Manchester United youngster completed the 90 minutes for Northern Ireland as they narrowly lost 1-0 to World Cup finalists Uruguay in Montevideo.
Northern Ireland boss Michael O`Neill was full of praise for McCullough after the game. 'We were asking a boy to do a man's job in front of 60,000 people against a team who are highly fancied to do well at the World Cup.
'He played as if he'd played in that situation throughout his career and he hasn't, he's played about a dozen times for Doncaster. Against that level of opposition - Cavani and Forlan - he was fantastic."
The 20-year-old made 13 appearances for Rovers in his debut season at the Keepmoat.
McCullough will now hope to win his second cap on Wednesday when Northern Ireland face more South American opposition when they face Chile, another side heading to the World Cup finals this month.
