DRFC Dickov working hard on squad already

Doncaster Rovers boss Paul Dickov says he is working hard to sort out the playing staff for next season as he looks to lead the club to an instant return to the championship.

The Rovers boss says he is already hard at work on bringing in new players for next season as well as sorting out new deals for those players out of contract that he wishes to retain.

Speaking on the Doncaster Rovers official website , Dickov said, 'We're trying to do business early to ensure we have a squad in place and a foundation to build on when the players come back for pre-season.

'Talks are also ongoing with current players who are out of contract. I'm speaking to them regularly and we're hopeful they will sign back up.

'At the moment business is being done under the radar, to ensure we get the best possible deals done.

'I have the backing of the board and I'm working really hard to boost the squad and get the best team together for next year. We want to gain promotion back to the Championship as early as possible.'

Dickov faces a busy summer as he attempts to hold onto a number of his championship squad. Rovers have offered new deals to eight players following their relegation from the Championship.

James Coppinger, David Cotterill, Paul Keegan, Jon Maxted, Harry Middleton, Alex Peterson, Ross Turnbull and Liam Wakefield have all been offered new terms by the club.

All eight players are out of contract this summer and will be free to leave at the end of their current deals in June.

Rovers will receive compensation from any club wishing to sign Maxted, Peterson or Wakefield due to their age if they decide to leave the club having been offered a new deal.

A number of players still contracted to the club are believed to have had clauses written into the contracts that would allow them to move on if Rovers were relegated.

Kyle Bennett, Chris Brown, Mark Duffy, Harry Forrester, Dean Furman, James Husband, Rob Jones, Luke McCullough, Paul Quinn, Theo Robinson, Marc De Val and Richie Wellens are all still contracted to the club.
