Dickov - Irons in the fire in transfer market

Doncaster Rovers boss Paul Dickov says he has 'irons in the fire` in the transfer market ahead of the new season.

Dickov will be looking to lead Rovers back into the championship at the first time of asking for the second time in three seasons following their relegation at the end of last season.

The experienced former striker says he is working hard behind the scenes as he prepares for the players returning to training at the end of this month.

Speaking on the Doncaster Rovers official website , Dickov said, "We`ve got a lot (of irons in the fire). My staff and I like to keep things under the radar and keep things quiet.

"I`m not one for announcing names or positions or clubs because I think it can come back and bit you on the bum a little bit. What we are doing is working ever so hard, hopefully before we start back on 30th June, we`ll have a few players in place by then."

As well as bringing in new players, Dickov is still working hard on retaining the players who are out of contract at the end of this month having offered eight new deals.

James Coppinger, David Cotterill, Paul Keegan, Jon Maxted, Harry Middleton, Alex Peterson, Ross Turnbull and Liam Wakefield have all been offered new terms by the club.
