How To Spice Up The JPT

One suggestion on how the league could spice up the JPT/LDV.

League One x 24 teams

League Two x 24 teams

Conference x 16 teams (note 8 Conference teams not involved)

Teams entered = 64

16 area groups of 4 teams

ROUND 1

All groups play 2 matches over a weekend at one venue.

Day admission is £10 for two games of football. All revenue, after costs is split 20% between all 4 teams involved and the cup fund.

Saturday: 1v2 & 3v4

Sunday: 3rd & 4th play-off, followed by the final.

Thus left with 16 teams left in the competition

ROUND 2

The following weekend, the remaining teams are draw into 4 groups of of 4 teams.

All groups play 2 matches over a weekend at one venue.

Day admission is £10 for two games of football. All revenue, after costs is split 20% between all 4 teams involved and the cup fund.

Saturday: 1v2 & 3v4

Sunday: 3rd & 4th play-off, followed by the final

Thus left with 4 teams in left in the competition

FINALS WEEK

At the Millennium Stadium

For those the can provide tickets stubs for all matches in Round 1 & Round 2 (i.e 4 ticket stubs) pay £15 to watch all the games on Saturday and Sunday. Day admission without all tickets from the previous rounds is £30.

All revenue, after costs is split 20% between all 4 teams involved and the cup fund.

Saturday: 1v2 & 3v4

Sunday: 3rd & 4th play-off, followed by the final

Takes up 3 pre-season weekends. This still allows teams to organise high-profile pre-season matches during the week and gives more teams/fans to go to the Millennium Stadium.

Still a few problems to iron out, the idea is there.
