DRFC Rovers draw with Sheffield Wednesday

DRFC Rovers draw with Sheffield Wednesday

Doncaster Rovers continued their build up for the 2014/15 season with an entertaining 2-2 draw against local rivals Sheffield Wednesday.

Rovers put their recent off field problems behind them as they came from 2-0 down to claim a draw against their championship opponents.

Trialists Ben Williams and Nathan Tyson were once again involved and out of contract midfielder Paul Keegan also featured despite reports, he could be joining the recent exodus from the Keepmoat.

Tyson had come close to giving Rovers the lead early on but he could only hit the side netting from a tight angle after rounding Owls goalkeeper Chris Kirkland.

Wednesday took the lead just before half time when Atdhe Nuhui headed home a Jacques Maghoma cross.

The visitors doubled their lead when Antonio fired home after they had taken advantage of a slip by Scott Brown, Maghoma once again the provider.

Substitute Marc De Val Fernandez reduced the deficit for Rovers soon afterwards when he scored from close range and the comeback was complete when Kyle Bennett curled home a free kick.

Team
Williams, Brown, Wakefield, McCullough, Evina, Forrester, Bennett, Tyson, Keegan (De Val 46), Furman, Robinson
