DRFC Dickov unhappy with sloppy first half

DRFC Dickov unhappy with sloppy first half

Doncaster Rovers boss Paul Dickov was critical of a sloppy first half after Rovers lost for the first time this season to Port Vale.

Port Vale left the Keepmoat with all three points as first half goals from Ben Williamson, Tom Pope and Carl Dickinson sent the visitors in 3-0 ahead at the break and Dickov was unhappy with the defending at set pieces.

Speaking to BBC Radio Sheffield, Dickov said, "We didn`t get started in the first half and Port Vale were simply better than us.

"The manner in which we lost the goals, from two corners and a throw in are very poor.

"It was a really sloppy first half"

Kyle Bennett did pull a goal back for Rovers with sixteen minutes remaining and any hope of a comeback was extinguished inside the final ten minutes when Harry Forrester was shown a straight red card.

Rovers must now dust themselves down quickly as they prepare for the visit of Preston North End on Tuesday night.
