Keepmoat Stadium Is Open

Doncaster Rovers will today play in the new Keepmoat for the very first time.

John Ryan, the Rovers Chairman, had this to say about the new £32m Stadium.

'It is a very exciting time for all Donny Rovers fans with the team about to play in the new stadium for the first time.

'I am sure our supporters will be hugely impressed with the facilities, as will the press and anyone else who comes along.

'Everything about the place is Premiership and I think we have gone from having the worst ground in League One to probably the best stadium.

'I have supported the club for 50 years and I can honestly say there has never been a better time to be a Rovers fan. In recent years, we have had two promotions, some thrilling cup runs, our league form is impressive and now we are about to move into a magnificent new stadium.

'Clubs who have moved to new stadiums have invariably enjoyed success on the back of it and we hope to be the same.'

'The interest in Doncaster has been phenomenal and I think everyone will enjoy the comfort.

'I am expecting to see a lot more families than we had at Belle Vue.

'We are expecting a sell-out crowd and that will make it our biggest since there were more than 20,000 at a League Cup tie against Hull at Belle Vue in 1975. That was more than 30 years ago and it is a long time to have to wait.

'The atmosphere on the opening day should be something else. I really can't wait to sample a home game at our new stadium for the first time.'

Good luck in your new home Donny. I look forward to when I can sample the facilities..... are there any decent boozers nearby though? Seems to be the case that most new grounds are remote from good pubs.
