DRFC Mason Turns Down Higher Division Options To Join Rovers
Aston Villa youngster Niall Mason says he turned down offers from higher division clubs to commit his future to Doncaster Rovers.
Mason has signed a two-year deal at the Keepmoat Stadium after a successful season on loan from Aston Villa.
Doncaster have paid an undisclosed fee for Mason, who says he has joined the club because of the potential.
"I had a couple of options to go a bit higher up the pyramid, but this is a great platform for me. I am working with a manager and coaching staff who know my game inside out and can get the best out of me," Mason told the Doncaster Rovers official website.
"They`ve all been really good to me and helped me develop, they`re probably the best coaching staff in League Two. They are only going to help me progress as a player.
"You can see the potential of the club, we have a good stadium and training facilities, and it has everything going for it really.
"We`re not going up to League One just to take part, we`re going up to give it a good go."
Mason helped Doncaster win promotion to League One next season, playing an integral part in the side.
The 20-year-old made 42 appearances for Doncaster and he showed his versatility, featuring in both defence and midfield.
