DRFC Ferguson Delighted With The Win
Doncaster Rovers boss Darren Ferguson says he was delighted with his sides performance in the win at Bradford City.
Doncaster won the all-Yorkshire Carabao Cup tie 3-2 thanks to goals from Alfie May, Rodney Kongolo and Ben Whiteman and Ferguson felt the side could have scored more.
"It was a proper cup tie, as I expected it to be. Both teams went out to win the game," Ferguson told BBC Radio Sheffield.
"I was delighted with our lads. I thought it was a good performance.
"We created lots of chances, scored three on the night and could have scored a lot more.
"I`m really pleased. Any cup tie you play you want to get through and that`s what we`ve done."
Doncaster went ahead early in the game when May pounced to prod home from close range after Colin Doyle in the Bradford goal had denied John Marquis.
Bradford levelled before the break when Dominic Poleon made no mistake from a tight angle.
The game changed in Doncaster`s favour when Bradford had Romain Vincelot sent off for a poor foul on May.
Doncaster made their numerical advantage count with just under 20 minutes remaining when Kongolo fired home at the second attempt.
Bradford fought back and substitute Alex Jones fired home with six-minutes remaining.
Whiteman ensured the game would not go to extra-time with just two minutes remaining when he slotted home.
