DRFC Doncaster Rovers Player Ratings v Arsenal

DRFC Doncaster Rovers Player Ratings v Arsenal

Doncaster Rovers player ratings from the game at Arsenal.

Lawlor 8

A number of really good saves kept Doncaster in the game.

Blair 8
Under pressure in the first half but in the second half, he got forward to help the attack.

Butler 7
He did well in a tough tussle against Oliver Giroud.

Wright 8
The young defender had an excellent game in defence.

Mason 7
He worked tirelessly in defence helping keep Doncaster in the game.

Houghton 7
He found it hard to get a foothold in midfield.

Kongolo 8 Star Man
He worked tirelessly and he gave as good as he got against the Arsenal defence and midfield. He was a constant threat for Doncaster helping to build the attacks.

Coppinger 7
He was always on hand to help out both defensively and in attack.

Whiteman 7
He fought hard in a good tussle in midfield.

May 7
He chased everything in attack as the side were feeding off scraps for much of the first half. He snatched at a chance in the first half that went into the side netting.

Rowe 7
Helped the attack and he scuffed a great chance in the second half when I expected him to do better.

Subs

Mandeville 7

He gave Doncaster fresh legs in the final third of the game and he came agonisingly close to forcing extra-time when his shot was deflected just wide.

Alcock 6
He had to deal with Arsenal attacking Doncaster late in the game in numbers.

Marquis 6
Two good chances soon after coming on but he snatched at both.

Summary
It looked like being a long night the way Arsenal started as they were creating chance after chance.

When the first goal went in, I thought that could be the start of goal avalanche but Doncaster hung on and then looked a real threat throughout the second half.

Arsenal were always hitting Doncaster on the counter but they threw their bodies on the line to stay in the game.

A number of chances late in the game almost sent the game into extra-time and all the fans could go home proud of the battling performance.

Doncaster must now get going in the league again, starting at Plymouth this weekend.
